Dorothy Livesay was born in Winnipeg. She taught at the University of Alberta from 1968 to 1971 and served as Visiting Professor at the University of Victoria from 1971 to 1974. Her volumes of poetry include "The Green Pitcher", "Day and Night", "Call My People Home", "The Unquiet Bed", "The Documentaries", and "Collected Poems: The Two Seasons".
