Jan Carew (b. 24 September 1920, Agricola Rome, British Guiana–d. 6 December 2012, Louisville, KY) grew up in Guiana and the United States. He studied at Howard University, Western Reserve University (now Case Western Reserve University), Charles University in Prague, and the Sorbonne in Paris.
