Miscellaneous collection of programs, speeches, clippings and articles relating chiefly to Edward Johnson and the founding of the Edward Johnson Music Foundation and Guelph Spring Festival. 1897-

Includes texts of talks by Roberston Davies, Murdo MacKinnon, Nicholas Goldschmidt, Judith Colbert, Walter Pitman, Marilyn Crooks and Lou Applebaum; also a file on the biography on Edward Johnson, including letters from E. Johnson (1958) and Phyllis Higinbotham (1977), newspaper clippings, reviews, gift of $25,000 to Guelph for the development of music among school children, his 100th birthday celebration at the 1978 Spring Festival, commemorative stamp of E. Johnson and other opera singers as part of the Canada Post opera series, Oct. 17, 2006 (first day cover and souvenir sheet). Also includes an historical collection of programs, chiefly Guelph, including Guelph Collegiate Auditorium, Royal Opera House, Guelph Armoury, Speed Canoe Club concert, and various churches; some Toronto and New York opera and concerts.

In order to perpetuate Edward Johnson's work and support for young musicians and music teachers in the Guelph region, a group of his friends established "The Edward Johnson Music Foundation" in 1957. It raised funds to support musical groups in Guelph and then in 1968 launched "The Guelph Spring Festival".
