Court proceedings, 1686-1696.

This collection includes two volumes: v. 1, 1686-1691, abstracts of Philadelphia deeds, including names of parties, type of agreement (mortgage, settlement, conveyance, etc.), date, and a brief description of the property. v. 2, contains Court of Quarter Sessions and Court of Common Pleas minutes, October, 1695. These minutes briefly describe cases appearing before the court, including date, name of accused, charge, justices present, sometimes notes on testimony, and sometimes sentence. Charges include fornication, having a bastard child, swearing, keeping a disorderly house, perjury, debt, "Speaking and Acting things at Philadelphia tending to Sedition and disturbance," and others. Other passages of note include: "Wee present the Bridg at Clayton's Mill at Schoolkill as not being Sufficient for Horses to pass" and "Wee the Grand Jurors present the want of a pair of Stocks and a Cage w'ch we think necessary for the Suppressing of Vice." The reverse of volume 2 contains "deeds acknowledged in open court," 1695-1696.
