Box 25 includes photographs of A.Y. Jackson painting the OAC campus in 1959. The painting showing Johnston Hall, the Chemistry Building, the Administration Building, Massey Hall and Library was presented by OAC 1909 for their 50th anniversary. It's part of the University art collection and is hanging in the Wellington County Room, McLaughlin Library. Material in archives concerns Gordon Couling's unpublished manuscript which he entitled "Ontario Stone: a Vocabulary of Forms" and which contains many b&w photographs and descriptions of Guelph and area (and other parts of Ontario) houses, buildings, architectural features, etc. built in the 1800's. Annex material includes biographical data on G. Couling and family.

Alexander Hamilton and his younger brother, William Hamilton, cleared the 400 acres of land in the Arboretum on the south side of College Ave. E. in the early 1830s. William Hamilton married Ellen Donovan and built the stone house in 1859, which was known as Glen William Farm. Their son, WIlliam Hamilton Jr. and his family lived in the stone house until ca. 1910 when he sold it to O.A.C. He then built the 2 1/2 storey red brick house (known as "Hill Acre") which stands by the Cutten Club further...
