Letter 28 Oct 1970 to Miss McCreath, Acting Fryer Librarian, re: his pleasure in a recent visit to the Fryer Library, enclosing 3 poems shortly to be published in limited edition, for the Fryer manuscript collection. The three poems--'After a bombing at sea, 1941', 'Decline of innocence' and 'Errant knight'--were all subsequently published in 'Decline of innocence and other poems' (1970).

Colin Bingham, born in Richmond, Queensland, had a long and distinguished career as a journalist and administrator in the newspaper world; he was leader-writer on the Sydney Morning Herald 1949-57, associate editor 1957-60 and editor 1961-65. He published several books of poetry and three books of essays. His autobiography, 'The Beckoning Horizon', was published in 1983.
