Letters to Samuel S. Miner, 1858-1860.

Collection includes four letters addressed to Samuel S. Miner of Maysville, Kentucky. Two December 1858 letters from Oliver Boutwell of Troy, New York concern a land transaction near Maysville. A 24 October 1860 letter from J. Otis, editor of the Western Recorder, Baptist Banner & Pioneer, discusses the qualifications and character of J.B. Porter, a preacher in Eminence, Ky. "He is a very plain unassuming man, but faithful, good and true," according to Otis. A 24 December 1860 letter from A.W. Larue of Danville, Ky. discusses church and religious matters. Larue notes that there were 20 conversions at a recent meeting, but states "I have not much hope of a large increase."
