Dr. John Corbally, former Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, and member of the College of Education Faculty, 1955-1969, enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Ohio State and other institutions of higher learning. He discusses his career as a faculty member and administrator. Topics discussed include the controversy over the Speaker's Rule (banning Communists from speaking on campus,) difficult times emanating from the Free Speech Front, Viet Nam protests, protests by African-American students, (especially the "kidnapping" of Gordon Carson and his secretary in 1967) and a strike by classified employees of the university. Corbally's administrative accomplishments included the creation of five new Colleges that comprised the Colleges of the Arts and Sciences, the controversial decision to close University School. He discusses OSU President Novice Fawcett at length.
