Mozelle Tonne Collection.

Mozelle Tonne was born in San Saba but lived in a variety of locations due to the fact that her father worked in the oil field. Shortly after World War II, she married Gilbert Tonne. Eventually, they moved to San Angelo where he worked for West Texas Utilities. Mrs. Tonne worked on family history and published her work in a book, From Ikervar to Devil's Garden: The Saga of Alexander Ringhoffer. The collection contains a pamphlet, a newspaper, and a story and is located in Miscellaneous Box 1 in the West Texas Collection.

Hospital opened July 4, 1912, as the Texas State Tuberculosis Sanatorium in Carlsbad, Texas. Dr. J. B. McKnight was appointed director in 1914 by Governor Oscar B. Colquitt. The facility was renamed for Dr. McKnight in 1950. A nursing school was chartered in 1915. The hospital was designed for short-term treatment of both private and charity tuberculosis patients.
