Includes materials reflecting the activities of staff members in the planning and preparation of programs and events during Tennessee's bicentennial year (1996), such as "Tennessee Treasures," a traveling exhibit of artifacts from the state museum; "Volunteer 200" Day on June 1, 1995, in which citizens undertook volunteer projects in their communities; the issuance of a bicentennial stamp; an Arts and Entertainment Festival; the construction and dedication of the Bicentennial Capitol Mall; the development of an archives program and World War II Veteran's Survey in conjunction with the State Library & Archives; and a Civil War Heritage Trail to link and interpret historic sites. Audiocassettes primarily consist of meetings of the Bicentennial Commission, the Tennessee 200 Board of Directors, and related committees, as well as some public service announcements which aired across the state regarding Bicentennial-related events. Videocassettes document the various events associated with the Bicentennial celebration and also include some public service announcements. A number of prominent individuals are featured, including Pat Boone, Nashville mayor Phil Bredesen, Ashley Cleveland, Charlie Daniels, Olanda Draper and the Associates, former Governor Winfield Dunn, Rep. Joe Fowlkes, Vince Gill, U.S. Vice President Albert Gore, Jr., Amy Grant, State Sen. Thelma Harper, Isaac Hayes, State Sen. Douglas Henry, Martha Ingram, Brenda Lee, former Governor Ned McWherter, Sam Moore, House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh, Carl Perkins, State Rep. Mary Pruitt, John Ritter, Michael W. Smith, Pat Head Summitt, Gov. Don Sundquist, Martha Sundquist, Kelly Tolson, Randy Travis, and Lt. Governor John Wilder. Computer discs consist of office files relating to work performed by the staff of Tennessee 200, Inc.
