Received his letter of March 1807; sends him book on cotton growing; sent one to Philosophical Society which made him a member; admires Jefferson for agricultural projects; cannot do same in France; a French missionary to Chinese wrote anecdote on agricultural societies; talk but do nothing; hopes Jefferson will write him on subject; saw Lafayette.
