Fifty-five fishermen, nine women, seven children, twenty-six horses, two wagons, and nets are pictured assembeld on a beach. The people are likely to be Finnish immigrants engaged in Salmon fishing. Sand Island is near Cape Disappointment, at the mouth of the Columbia River.
