Orderly book of Col. Henry Jackson's Additional Continental Regiment, later designated as the Massachusetts 16th, kept at Morristown, New Jersey and Peekskill, New York, 23 May-1 August 1780 concerning duty assignments. Includes general division orders probably from Gen. Friedrich von Steuben and brigade orders probably from Gen. John Stark concerning courts-martial, deployment and provisioning of troops, re-assignment of units, and preparations for battle. George Washington's orders include a commendation to Gen. Nathanael Greene's troops for opposing an enemy advance on Springfield, New Jersey, and a general order to all officers to require exact compliance in sentries' attention to soldierly deportment and to preserving good security.
