Booth writes to Sir, 5 Nov. 1732, regretfully cancelling an appointment to hear a reading of the drama he had written, as he had been reminded of a previous appointment with the same purpose with a different author, and offering to hear the work at the author's convenience.

Barton Booth was a famous English actor and successful theatre manager. Born in Lancashire, he left Trinity College to become an actor, starting with a theatrical company in Dublin. His subsequent return to London was an immediate success, and he became known for dramatic roles, playing Shakespearean figures such as King Lear, Marc Antony, and Brutus.
