Chicana feminists.

Presents the oral histories of six women who were active in the Chicana feminist movement in Los Angeles, beginning in the 1960s and early 1970s. Four of them were involved in Hijas de Cuauhtemoc (the oral histories of three are available only at the CSULB Special Collections site until spring 2006); one was a founding member of Comision Feminil Mexicana (CFM) and another was active in it and in educational organizations. An additional short interview with a researcher who interviewed Chicanas about their participation in the 1975 Mexico City conference is also included.

The first United Nations World Conference on Women was held in Mexico City from 19 June to 2 July, 1975. The conference led to the adoption of the World Plan of Action, as well as the Declaration of Mexico on the Equality of Women and Their Contribution to Development and Peace.
