Signal Hill.

Presents the oral histories of 11 women and men who lived in Signal Hill where oil was discovered, north of the City of Long Beach, in 1921. The narrators describe their experiences living and working in Signal Hill as it evolved from an agricultural area, to a center of producing oil wells and oil service companies, toward a residential and retail center. Most of the interviews were conducted as a project sponsored by the City of Signal Hill and the others were part of a study of the impact of oil on Long Beach's development.
