The Turpin family settled in Hendricks County, Indiana in the 1830s. Much of the Turpin material relates to the descendants of Henry Turpin, his wife Amelia Ellen Brock, and the Brock family. Ellen's brother Joseph F. Brock moved on to Iowa and Mississippi where he owned watchmaking and jewelry shops. The Glidden family represented in this collection were farmers in Noble County, Ohio.
