Allyn R. Bell was born Sept. 2, 1909 in Atlantic City, New Jersey and graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1926. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School in 1931 with a major in accounting. In 1977 he recieved an honorary doctoral degree in economics from Soongsil University (Korea).
