George Thomas Moore papers, 1893-1956.

This is a collection of correspondence, mostly of a professional nature, pertaining to his position as director of the Missouri Botanical Garden. Of special interest is the correspondence on the Harvard Board of Overseers and the letters from W. G. Farlow and William and Julia Trelease. Correspondence with John L. Lowes is about community interests, such as Country Day School, St. Louis Harvard Club, and University Club. Smoke abatement papers are of considerable interest because the air pollution from coal smoke had a deleterious impact on displays at the Missouri Botanical Garden during Moore's tenure as Director. These papers are available in the RG 3/2/2 records collection. The collection includes correspondence, programs and texts of public lectures, Lumier color glass negatives of Harriet, Tom and Grandmother Moore, awards, a travel diary, and letters of condolence.
