William Savery (1750-1804) was born September 14, 1750, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, the son of William and Mary (Peters) Savery. Educated in local schools, Savery was then apprenticed in the tanning industry. He was a business Friend of Philadelphia and a prominent minister. In 1778, he married Sarah Evans.
