Photographs and photomechanical prints relating to the Sargent family of Massachusetts and Fishkill Landing (now Beacon), N.Y. Most of the photographs in the collection depict the buildings, grounds, and gardens at "Wodeneth," the summer estate that horticulturalist Henry Winthrop Sargent (1810-1882) built at Fishkill Landing; many of these photographs were taken by his daughter-in-law, Aimee Rotch Sargent, as well as some by architect Herbert Browne. There are also some portraits in the collection that depict Henry Winthrop Sargent, his son Winthrop Henry Sargent (1840-1916), and Winthrop's wife Aimee Rotch Sargent, among others. Other photographers include Alwan & Co. of New York, N.Y., among others. Includes cabinet cards, cartes de visite, and stereoviews.
