Violinist Nesta Smith (1900-1998) taught at the Hull-House Music School and acted as its director from 1943-1967. The Hull-House Music School was founded in 1893 in the world-famous Hull-House settlement house. The school offered a wide array of educational and performance opportunities to poverty-stricken immigrants and their children on the Near West Side of Chicago.
