1st Wisconsin reunion scrapbook, 1861-1911.

A scrapbook of letters and service sketches received from veterans who served in Companies E and K of the 1st Wisconsin Infantry Regiment during the Civil War. The letters, containing service reminiscences and reflections, along with military service sketches were sent to Hosea Rood in response to his request for such as he helped organize a reunion commemorating the fiftieth anniversary of the organization of the two Wisconsin companies. Included is information from James K. Proudfit, DeWitt C. Poole, Nelson R. Doan, Pliny Norcross, William Soden, William A. Wyse, and John H. Nichols. Also included are photographs of Nichols and Poole in uniform.

"D.C. (DeWitt Clinton) Poole (1828-1917), was an Amsterdam, New York native who moved to Madison, Wisconsin in 1854 after being deeded land by his cousin Napoleon B. Van Slyke. At the onset of the Civil War, Poole volunteered with the Governor's Guard, later designated Co. K of the 1st Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry Regiment.
