Chauncey Cleveland Williams was born in Massachusetts on April 5, 1853. He established "The Peoples Advocate" and "Daily Three o'Clock" newspapers in Stockton, California, and was a member of the Workingmen's Party of California. Williams also served as deputy assessor of San Francisco and worked as an agent of the Tenth U.S. Census in 1880. He died in 1938. From the description of C.C. Politician. President of Workingmen's party of California (1877). Campaigned against capitalists and Chinese labor. Former established Committee of Public Safety to protect their interests. Kearney was arrested but beat charges against him. Eventually his party succeeded in banning Chinese immigration (1882).
