Mormon leader Charles Coulson Rich (1809-1883) was president of the Salt Lake Stake, was a member of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, and served as president of the British Mission in the 1860s. He married six plural wives, including Sarah DeArmon Pea Rich (1814-1893). Their oldest daughter was Sarah Jane Rich Miller (1839-1926). Their oldest son, Joseph C. Charles Coulson Rich was born on August 21, 1809, in Campbell County, Kentucky. He was instructed in the Mormon faith by Lyman Wight and baptized into the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by George M. Hinckle in 1832. In 1838 he married Sarah D. Pea, the first of his six wives. Rich lived in Calfwell County, Missouri, and fought in the Battle of Crooked River.
