John Ferrie letter to Jacob Weed, 1787 May 2.

The collection consists of a letter from John Ferrie to Jacob Weed informing him that Ferrie would be willing to part with 500 acres at Point Peter, St. Mary's River, Georgia, so that Wee would be able to complete his plans for a town planned on land adjacent to the 500 acres. The original tract for the town was purchased from Weed by 20 proprietors including Finley and Weed himself, on December 12, 1787. The city was first laid out by Finley as county surveyor in August 1788, and recorded on January 5, 1789. The letter is 2 pages, approximately 300 words, and folded for mailing. Seal break visible; addressed on verso.
