John Davis Long photographs, 1899-1918.

Photographs and postcards belonging to John Davis Long, congressman and Secretary of the Navy. Subjects of the photographs include a War Camp Community Service mess hall, taken ca. 1917-1918 during World War I, and a portrait of a man identified as "Mr. Walsh," a proof sent to Long by photographer Louis N. Tucker of the Notman Photographic Co. of Boston, Mass. as an example of the sort of photograph he wished Long would send to be included in a series of portraits of members of the Massachusetts House of Representatives. A photocopy of a letter from Tucker to Long accompanies the portrait. The postcards depict the interior and exterior of the Old South Meeting House in Boston, Mass. Photographers also include Harris & Ewing of Washington, D.C.
