Luther Parsons notebook and letter, 1803-1823.

A combination account book, memo book and family record kept by an Enfield, Connecticut, resident. Includes records of notes due and payments received; a record of births, marriages and deaths in his immediate family; a military account of equipment for his soldiers and a list of recruits for the defense of New London during the War of 1812; and a record of regimental reviews, officers meetings, orders, and training. The letter was from Parsons, written at camp near New London to his wife Maria. In it he described his march to New London and life in camp, and he alluded to the still born child she recently delivered. Parsons commanded the 9th Company of the 2nd Regiment of militia.
