Belknap Collection, Theatre 1932-1989 1932-1939 : Federal theatre.

This collection begins with playbills, newsletters, reviews and reminiscences, and a collection of original reports on the status of the Federal Theatre Project, theatrical guides (particularly on sewing of props and making of puppets) and requests for works to be included in the project. The second box contains scripts, all produced in the United States, many dating back to the 18th century starting with "The Disappointment, or, the force of credulity", reported to be the first American comedic opera to be published due to previous lack of copyright laws. The third and fouth box contain lists of plays by genre which might be appropriate for inclusion and 2 reels of microfilm of documents concerning the history of the FTP in Florida.
