Wilfred Sadler was born in Haughton, Chesire, England on December 22, 1883. In his early years, he attended Wesleyan Schools in Nantwich, and Teachers' School in Crewe. In 1906, he entered the British Dairy Institute at University College, Reading. He then became an instructor in Dairying at Hauts from 1907 to 1908, and an assistant instructor in Dairying and Dairy Bacteriology at Midland Agricultural and Dairy College, Kingston, Derby from 1908 to 1912.
