Belknap Collection, Theatre 1950-1982 1975-1977 : Actors Studio.

This collection begins with correspondenses between Richard G. Fallon and his staff at FSU and potential panelists, then proceeds to letters of support and research on the history of the Actors Studio and it's members, promotional materials, both final and in draft form, clippings, props, and letters of gratitude. Photographs of the event and their negatives are in the collection along with some clippings from later years.

The Actors Studio was founded in October, 1947, by Cheryl Crawford, Elia Kazan and Robert Lewis. In 1948 Lee Strasberg joined the team and was the central teacher and figurehead until his death in 1982. Jan. 14-16, 1977 the Florida State University School of Theatre held "A Salute to the Actors Studio", an event hosted by Lee Strasberg and featuring lectures and panel-discussions from Strasberg and several of the premier members of the Mercury Theatre from 1950-1977.
