Belknap Collection, Theatre 1879- 1879-1934 : Uncle Tom's Cabin.

This collection includes music scores, broadside heralds, playbills, clippings, periodical articles and website printouts relative to the play, Uncle Tom's Cabin. The book, first serialized in 1850, is often given credit as a rallying point for the anti-slavery movement and start of the Civil War. The melodramatic play enjoys the status of longest running play in the United States, having been produced continuously from 1853 to 1934. It is during this continual run that most of this collection dates.
