Obituaries of Pliney Norcross, a La Grange, Wis. native, who served with Company K of the First Wisconsin Infantry and later became Captain of Company K, Thirteenth Wisconsin Infantry during the Civil War. Norcross, credited with being the first student from the University of Wisconsin-Madison to enlist, was a prominent Janesville, Wis. citizen after the war. His obituaries provide details about his life including military service, post-war career, and information about his family. Also found in the collection are several photographs of Norcross, along with photographs of his brothers Frederick and Lanson Norcross who also served in Company K of the Thirteenth Wisconsin.
