The collection consists of three items: manuscript page identified as Autumn, 14 Oct. 1857, commencing with the line, "... are a clean yellow contrasting ..."; manuscript page from A Yankee in Canada, circa 1866, starting with the line, "... him that it was one thing to visit the State of Massachusetts ..."; also, the first separate printing of Thoreau's poem, Life, written circa 1864 and printed at Chapel Hill for Raymond Adams, Dec. 1930.
