[Letter] 1849 Apr. 30, Chicopee : [to] Henry Lyon, Ware, Mass. / [from] S. Adams.

Adams, agent at the Dwight Manufacturing Co., Chicopee, Mass., writes to Lyon, agent at the Otis Company, about a young female weaver currently in the employ of Otis. He writes that she owes her passage money from Scotland to Dwight and that she "ran away on Fast Day without giving us the least notice or any information of her intent."

In 1894 Henry Lyon was Secretary in the London office of the Niger Coast Protectorate which had come into being in May 1893. By January 1897 he was acting as an Assistant Commissioner in Sapele, Nigeria where he learnt about the killing of J.R. Phillips and eight other Europeans on the road to Benin City.
