Saint Augustine "Cross and Sword" Collection.

Materials from the 16th season (1980) of the official production of Paul Green's "Cross and Sword" (the official state play of Florida). This collection includes multiple copies of the script with detailed lighting, sound and cast notes depending on which crew member had the script. Also included are two reel-to-reel tapes which contain the pre-recorded portion of the play.

Paul Eliot Green(1894-1981) was a Southern playwright, poet, and novelist. Born in Lillington, North Carolina, Green lived in the state all of his life and tried to capture in his writings the culture and heritage of the American South, concentrating on the experiences of tenant farmers, mill workers, Native Americans and African Americans.
