This collection contains photographs taken by Rev. Olof C. Johnson in and around Rutland County, Vermont, during the late 1930s and early 1940s. The collection is particularly strong in photographs of churches, fairs, and 4-H activities. The collection includes pictures of the Rutland County 4-H Camp at Elfin Lake in Wallingford, Vermont; other camps; other 4-H activities; a family making and eating sugar on snow; activities in a farm kitchen; families at the dinner table; auto racing and stunts; and a Model A pickup crash in which the driver is taken away in an ambulance. The collection also includes photographs of the Eastern States Exposition in Springfield, Massachusetts; the 1939 New York World's Fair; and the Queen Mary setting sail, probably from New York City.

Rev. Olof C. Johnson was born February 28, 1909, in Gloversville, New York, and his family relocated to Northville, New York, when he was about 10 years of age. He went through business college, and his first job was as a bank clerk and stenographer in Cobleskill in 1929 at the First National Bank of Cobleskill.
