Photographs collected by Abigail Adams Homans, many relating to her book, "Education By Uncles." Most of the photographs are portraits of various Adams family relatives, including Abigail Brooks Adams, Brooks Adams, Charles Francis Adams I, Frances Crowninshield Adams, Henry Adams, and John Quincy Adams II, as well as photographs of herself and her husband, Robert Homans, as children and young adults. There are also views of Quincy, Mass., including John Adams' birthplace, taken ca. 1870-1880, and color snapshot photographs of a gathering at the Glades Club in Scituate, Mass. in 1966 to celebrate the publication of her book. Photographers include James Notman and John Adams Whipple of Boston, Mass., James A. Jenney, and Mrs. Richard Stokes, among many others. Includes cartes de visite and cabinet cards.
