Thomas Moore was a botanist and writer on botanical subjects. He was an acknowledged expert on British ferns and on florists' plants and hothouses. He was curator of the Apothecaries Company's gardens, and held other similar posts. He wrote several monographs on gardening, and numerous articles on botanical subjects.
