John Quincy Adams portrait receipts, 1829-1830.

Receipts, 1829-30, pertaining to a full-length portrait of U.S. President John Quincy Adams commissioned by Ward Nicholas Boylston to present to Harvard College, painted by Gilbert Stuart of Boston in 1825, and finished by Thomas Sully of Philadelphia in 1830. Includes receipts signed by frame maker John Doggett, Gilbert's friend Isaac P. Davis, and Gilbert's wife Charlotte Stuart, administrator of his estate. Also includes a receipt signed by Charles Francis Adams, the administrator of George Washington Adams's estate, for payment received from Ward Nicholas Boylston's estate.
