Production Files 1980-1995; 1983-1985

This series comprises records related to the production and distribution of the 1985 documentary film Burchfield's Vision produced by Lutheran Film Associates, Inc. (LFA). The records are from 1980-1995 with the bulk dating from 1983-1985. Record types include business correspondence, handwritten notes, proposed budgets, corporation bylaws, grant agreements, typewritten scripts, color photographs and photonegatives, color slides and corresponding negatives, printed reports, news articles, and news releases. LFA generated these records in the process of producing and distributing film prints and later videocassette copies. It retained them as a record of the production process that resulted in the 58-minute film Burchfield's Vision, as well as a 20-minute companion film titled Burchfield at the Met. By far the most abundant record type is correspondence. Most letters are typewritten, though there are some photostatic copies of handwritten correspondence. Subject matter of correspondence includes licensing agreements, funding grants, letters to galleries whose paintings were featured in the film, funding for the film, inquiries and subsequent business correspondence to Dr. John I.H. Bauer, who narrated the film; general correspondence between LFA's Robert E.A. Lee, executive producer on the project, and John and Allie Clayton who served as the film's director, producers and editors.
