Records 1950-1977

This series comprises records related to the Lutheran Film Associates'(LFA) production of The World of Martin Luther. They date from 1950-1977 and were generated as a result of the desire of LFA and its predecessor Lutheran Church Productions, Inc. (LCP) to produce a documentary on the life of Martin Luther. Record types include typewritten and handwritten business correspondence, typewritten film scripts, news releases, news articles, music scores, meeting minutes, and contracts. Subject matter pertains to initial discussions about financing production of a German documentary about Martin Luther titled Der Gehorsame Rebell (1952) with the idea of releasing an English version in the United States; and the eventual switch to the production of The World of Martin Luther (1966) which incorporates footage from Der Gehorsame Rebell. One flat box contains one copy of the German-language version of the script for Der Gehorsame Rebell, two copies of script for a Curt Oertel documentary on Martin Luther that was the precursor to Der Gehorsame Rebell; and a printed musical score for The World of Martin Luther.
