Phtographs c.1953

This series comprises approximately 250 black and white and 5 color photographs, and 34 color slides related to the production and promotion of the feature film Martin Luther produced by Lutheran Church Productions, Inc. (LCP), a predecessor of Lutheran Film Associates. These photographs are primarily publicity stills and are circa 1953. The first three folders appear to have come from an album, but the background on this is unknown as they were already removed from the album and re-boxed before the time of processing. The series includes general publicity stills of various scenes from the movie, photographs used for news articles, and photographs showing particular production aspects of the film, such as location shooting and construction of sets. Some of these photographs are identified with captions, but not all. There is also a folder titled "Martin Luther: Story in Pictures," which appears to be a promotional tool created by LCP. It includes specific photographs with an accompanying caption sheet. Photographs of principal cast members and artwork used to capture the likeness of the characters as derived from historical artwork are also in this series, as is one folder containing several photostatic negative copies of cast member photographs and one folder with photographs of publicity art used in marketing the film.
