Auditor's Reports 1953-1966

This series comprises one bound volume of audit reports for the distribution of the film Martin Luther and audit reports for Lutheran Church Productions, Inc. (LCP), the company that produced the Martin Luther film. These reports are from 1953-1966 and were generated as part of the responsibility to provide accurate, professionally audited reports of the financial status of LCP and distribution efforts for Martin Luther. The reports are somewhat interfiled. Monthly reports of income, costs, and producer's share as it pertains to distribution of Martin Luther exist for December 1953 - March 1954, May 1954 - February 1955, May 1955, September 1955, January 1956, and February 1958. All reports except February 1958 were prepared by Samuel Hacker & Company, Certified Public Accountants, New York, New York. The February 1958 report was prepared by Alexander Grant & Co., Certified Public Accounts, New York, New York. These audit reports include a letter of transmittal and comments, exhibit "1," the statement of income, costs, and producer's share, and any accompanying schedules that identify, among other items, foreign or U.S. charges, promotional expenses, advertising materials, and net foreign gross receipts. The other type of report in this series is the yearly financial report provided for LCP. This annual audit was performed by, Weller & Baker, Certified Public Accountants, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Annual financial reports exist for fiscal years ending February 1954-1966. These reports include the accountant's report and two exhibits, exhibit "A," a balance sheet and notes to the financial statement, and exhibit "B," a statement of receipts and disbursements for the preceding fiscal year and any supporting schedules.
