Journey to the summit of Mont Blanc, July 1819 [1819].

Journal of an aerial expedition to the summit of Mont Blanc written in the form of a letter to "My dear Mother" dated Geneva, July 22, 1819 and signed "your affectionate son Mr Howard." In his letter he talks about the history of Mont Blanc; other explorers unsuccessful attempts to reach the summit; Jacques Balmat and Dr Paccard's successful expedition to the summit and those that followed in the 18th century; and his successful journey to the summit. Includes 3 pen-and-ink drawings, including 1 full-page drawing of a map of Mont Blanc with a path to its summit. Also includes a newspaper clipping of an article entitled "Swiss Aviator Flies To Top of Mont Blanc Highest Peak in Alps," [1921].
