Concerns his service in the Utah War (1857-1858), during which he stayed at Ham's Fork, Black's Fork, Fort Bridger, and Fort Laramie, all in Wyoming; and Fort Kearney, Camp Scott, Camp Floyd, and Camp Jordan, in Utah. His writings focused on meteorology, geography, masonry, anti-masonry, politics, slavery, emancipation, klu-kluxism, Indian troubles, women's issues, President Abraham Lincoln, impeachment of President Andrew Johnson, and other subjects. Dated Sept. 30, 1857 to Oct. 24, 1859.
