The collection consists of a photograph album containing 48 (4 1/2 x 3 1/2, b&w) photographs belonging to Mr. and Mrs. William P. Smith. The pictures were taken during a cruise through Southeast Alaska in 1891. The black and white photos include images of Glacier Bay, Wrangell Narrows, Muir, Taku, and Patterson glaciers, the towns of Wrangell, Juneau, Douglas, and Sitka, Treadwell Mine, Baranof Castle, Native traders, the Russian Church at Sitka, and waterfalls and other scenery. In addition, there are 25 conservation negatives for some of these photographs.
