General description of the collection: The Paul Hawley photograph collection consists mainly of photographs which deal with his World War II service in Europe. Many are of visits to hospitals or visits with important people (VIPs). There are only a few photos of Hawley's service before World War II. There are quite a few photos of his family and their activities.

Brigadier General (BG) Paul R. Hawley began his military service at Fort Thomas, KY. In August, 1918, he sailed for France with the 334th Infantry, serving with the 2nd Depot Division and with the Service of Supply. He returned to the United States in 1919 and was ordered to work as Surgeon for the 14th Infantry and Sanitary Inspector for the 6th Division.
