Manuscript report on a tour of engineering plants in New York City and Schenectady, illustrated with many pen and ink drawings, and with photographs and steel engravings from unidentified publications. The report describes equipment at the Kent St. Station of the Brooklyn City Railroad, the Metropolitan Telephone Exchange, Crocker-Wheeler Motor Co. (Ampere, N.J.), Weston Instrument Factory (Newark, N.J.), and the General Electric Co. works in Schenectady, N.Y., including a brass foundry and an iron foundry, the Wire Department where cable was formed, and departments for the manufacture of porcelain, lamp sockets, and underground conduits.
