Autograph letter signed from Francis Bayllye, Redford, to Sir Edward Hoby [manuscript], 1602 August 29.

Starts with copy of a signet letter from Queen Elizabeth and the Council of the North, dated September 14, 1590, to a Randall Tench, "deputie for Mr Boyer" and now living in Leeds, concerning the unlawful buying and selling of wools; Bayllye asks for clarification as to whether offenders should be examined upon oath, as stated in the 1590 letter, or not.
